Diverse Teaching Approaches and Strategies
1.Small Class Teaching
Small Class Teaching has been shown to enable students to enjoy more educational opportunities and resources. They get to receive more individual attention from teachers in class. In this approach, innovative and interactive teaching methods are vibrantly implemented. These measures enable students to be more involved and proactive learners.
2.Cooperative Learning
In order to address the needs of our diverse student population, our school has adopted a cooperative learning approach. It involves students helping one another in small-group settings, which provide them opportunities to develop both academically and socially.
3.e-Learning
In the classroom, our teachers use global e-Learning resources such as Nearpod and Kahoot, as well as other relevant apps to enhance students’ interests, increase their participation and jumpstart discussions that strengthen interactions and mutual learning. Outside the classroom, students can learn through different online e-Learning platforms for various subjects. These learning platforms take into account the progress of each student and provide appropriate learning content to suit their individual needs.
4.Blended Learning
5. Self-directed Learning
Through SDL our lessons go beyond traditional teacher-driven approaches. They are student-led so as to empower our children to gain greater ownership of their learning journeys. It involves a process where students establish their learning goals, monitor their progress and reflect and evaluate the outcomes.
By promoting Self-directed Learning, our school aims to equip our students with a number of important skills which include literacy and numeracy skills, research and information skills as well as communication and critical thinking skills. They are also taught reflecting skills such as conducting a self-evaluation of their current situation, their study habits and their time management.
