Science
Science is Everywhere
Science influences our thoughts and actions daily. Whether cooking, observing plants, or using smart devices, scientific principles subtly accompany us, enhancing our understanding of its importance.
Exploring Science
At Wun Tsuen School, we have established Science as an independent subject since 2011, gaining valuable experience for curriculum reforms. Our teaching team is familiar with effective methods and adapts to new requirements, ensuring the best learning experience. We encourage exploration inside and outside the classroom, emphasizing "hands-on and minds-on" learning through various strategies, including questioning, group discussions, and simple experiments.
Diverse Assessment Strategies
We promote diverse assessment methods alongside traditional evaluations, allowing students to showcase their learning in various ways, which builds confidence. Students can upload work on e-learning platforms for peer evaluation, fostering mutual learning. Each grade level has practical assessments to test students' ability to perform experiments and apply their knowledge.
The New Science Hub
Our new Science Hub provides a rich environment for inquiry and ample space for teaching activities, especially for collaborative learning among upper-grade students. It includes various scientific models and teaching materials to enhance learning experiences.
Implementation of School-based Assignments
Assignments like the Science Journal and Discovery Booklet help students simplify concepts and summarize their learning. These tools cover the scientific method—experiment purpose, materials, hypotheses, procedures, results, observations, and conclusions—while improving learning outcomes.
Looking Ahead
For the upcoming curriculum reforms, we aim to strengthen our students' Science foundation and enhance scientific literacy. We will keep encouraging them to connect classroom learning with real-life experiences and apply their knowledge to solve practical problems.
