Subject - Humanities

In 2021, the Wun Tsuen School made Science an independent subject. Then, in the 2022-2023 school year, it introduced the Humanities subject. In addition to promoting the core humanities and values education framework related to General Studies, we also aim to help students from diverse cultural backgrounds understand Hong Kong and China.

Eco-friendly Campus

With the completion of the new school building, the school has implemented a series of eco-friendly facilities to encourage students to actively practise green living and sustainable development. We have installed recycling bins, a food waste composter and solar panels on campus. Additionally, each classroom is provided with recycling bags to encourage students to recycle. Green prefects will assist in collecting these recyclables and promoting the responsibility for environmental conservation. We also invite various organisations to conduct learning activities at the school so as to teach students about environmental protection and recycling.

Project-Based Learning

Beyond daily classroom teaching, we also emphasise project-based learning. This diversified learning approach provides students with more opportunities to unleash their creativity. It also fosters a continuous exploration of knowledge, as well as a lifelong-learning attitude. Through collaboration, students can also enhance their communication and teamwork skills.

Experiential Learning and Practical Assessment

Our curriculum focuses on connecting learning with daily life. Therefore, our school has introduced practical assessments in the junior levels. These assessments not only serve as evaluation tools but also as learning activities, allowing students to construct knowledge and skills to solve everyday problems. For example: In Primary 1, students learn practical life skills such as zipping up, wearing a belt, and tying shoelaces in class. They are then assessed on their ability to master these skills, giving them the opportunity for self-reflection and improvement.

Visual Journal

Teachers have specially-designed a notebook filled with visual elements to teach students how to effectively organise their learning using a Visual Journal. Starting from Primary 1, students are gradually guided to use different note-taking techniques such as mind maps and comparison tables. This fosters a strong attitude towards independent learning.
