We embrace the fact that our students possess different cultural and linguistic backgrounds that shape their Chinese language learning. We are dedicated in catering to this diversity so as to provide our students with a strong and lasting relationship with the Chinese language. Our school has been cooperating with renowned Professor Tse Shek Kam’s Team at the University of Hong Kong in designing a school-based Chinese curriculum to suit our students’ needs.

 

With this "comprehensive and efficient literacy" curriculum, a great majority of our students can acquire fundamental "Chinese listening and speaking" skills in a short period of time. In addition, our school has joined the school-based support scheme held by the Education Bureau’s Language Support Team. With their professional assistance and valuable advice, our school has developed a series of teaching plans for Chinese reading and writing which have proven to be very effective.

 

We aim to empower all our students to communicate effectively using the Chinese language. Therefore, besides lessons that take place in the classroom, our school has organized different activities for them to have more exposure to different Chinese language learning environments. Every morning, students’ listening and speaking abilities have been strengthened by watching educational cartoon programmes and daily news in Cantonese. In addition, Chinese teachers make use of the morning assemblies to help students have a deeper understanding about Chinese culture.
