Putonghua

There is a saying that “Language is Culture, and Culture is Language”, which presents the relationship between culture and language. As we all know, one cannot really understand another culture without learning its language. Our school has decided to establish the Putonghua Department to help develop Non-Chinese Speaking Students’ Putonghua skills. In order to reach this goal, the Putonghua Curriculum has been especially designed for Non-Chinese Speaking Students. The curriculum mainly focuses on cultivating interest in Putonghua via games and activities. Through the in-class exercises, we believe that speaking, listening and reading skills will be improved.
Besides those in-class activities and exercises, our Putonghua Department has organized some interesting events including Putonghua Day and the Putonghua Speech Competition. We encourage students to participate in the Hong Kong Speech Festival Putonghua Verses Speaking Event to enhance interest in learning and understanding.
For our school’s Putonghua education, our curriculum will be constantly improved in order to raise the Putonghua skills of students.
